How to make a cinnamon apple bread breakfast casserole
First of all, let’s get ready! Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spray the baking dish with 1.5 liters of baking spray.
Then cut the cinnamon buns into bite-sized pieces and spread them evenly across the bottom of the oiled baking pan.
Now place the apple pie filling on the base of the cinnamon buns. Make sure it’s equal!
Next, in a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, salt, vanilla extract and cinnamon. Pour this mixture over the apple filling.
For the filling, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle evenly over the egg mixture and cover the mold with aluminum foil.
Finally, bake for half an hour, covered with a lid. Then remove the foil and bake for about another 30 minutes or until the eggs are set. Serve immediately. Have a great time!
The simpler the recipe, the better, at least in my books! Breakfast casseroles are one of my favorite recipes for waking up. You can start the preparations the night before and finish them the next day.
How to Move Forward.
No one wants to wake up and sit in the kitchen for hours before breakfast. It’s just cruel.
To make this ahead of time, you want to separate the slices before they are ready to cook. If you have room in the refrigerator, you can slice the cinnamon buns, place the bottom layer in a baking dish and let it cool. If so, let it cool slightly before cooking to bring the dish to room temperature.
For the egg mixture, you can whisk this together and put it in the refrigerator overnight. If you are using canned apple pie filling, you can leave it or put it in the refrigerator if it is open. Assemble, bake, and you’re all set!
How to freeze.
Whether it’s a whole or whole casserole, this recipe can definitely be frozen! It will last about 4 or 5 days in your refrigerator, but if you want to keep the leftovers longer, freeze them earlier.
Make sure your casserole is in an airtight container with as little freezer burn space as possible. You can make individual portions for light weekday breakfasts or an entire recipe for a surprise brunch.
This will last about six months in the freezer.
How to reheat.
Assuming you even have leftovers, you’ll definitely want to eat them again soon. Because of the egg mixture, it can only stay in a safe place for about 2 hours, so be sure to refrigerate or freeze the leftovers as soon as possible.
I prefer to reheat this in the microwave, as the texture of the egg can get sticky. Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and heat under a lid for about 15 minutes to start and check the temperature. If you cook one piece, it will be faster than a full meal.
