Let’s be honest, cinnamon rolls made from scratch take time, and sometimes we just need a sweet treat right now. Using store-bought dough, you don’t have to wait!
STEPS FOR MAKING THIS RECIPE
There are a few steps for this recipe, but they are quick and add incredible flavor, so I highly recommend you follow the recipe, however I will provide you with shortcuts if you want to follow them.
To make it easier to make rolls, such as the ones sold at the mall or the ones we make from scratch, we make a mixture of melted butter and sugar.
But instead of just melting the butter in the microwave to melt it, I highly recommend making “brown butter” by melting the butter in a pan on the stove over medium heat until it shows brown spots.
Brown butter has a rich flavor and gives a note of caramelization that is hard to replicate. It’s the best option, so I encourage you to spend an extra 5 minutes on it.
INGREDIENTS
You will need a few ingredients for this recipe. I like to make the cream cheese frosting myself, but you can use the frosting on a cinnamon bun wrapper.

INGREDIENTS
1 box of cinnamon buns (8 buns)
½ Cup heavy whipped cream I use shamrock farms
1 stick of butter (½ cup melted), split
½ Cup brown sugar
½ Tablespoon ground cinnamon
For the cream cheese frosting.
4 ounces cream cheese ½ block cream cheese
½ Cup confectioners’ sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat the oven according to the directions on the cinnamon bun package. My temperature was 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a sauce pan, melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to bubble and turn amber in color, immediately remove from heat. It will make ½ cup of melted butter
In a bowl, add the brown sugar and cinnamon and pour in half of the butter (about ¼ cup). Set aside the other half for the frosting.
Place the cinnamon buns in a baking dish and pour over the heavy cream. Then add the butter and sugar mixture to the rolls and spread evenly
Cook the rolls according to the instructions on the package. I cooked mine for 18 minutes.
Prepare the glaze.
While the rolls are cooking, prepare the glaze by mixing the cream cheese, confectioners’ sugar and brown butter in a bowl and, using a hand mixer, beat until creamy
Add the glaze to the cinnamon rolls when you take them out of the oven, and let cool for a few minutes
Serve the scones and enjoy.
